Shamik Das

Associate - Comms and PR - Brussels, Belgium

Shamik is a freelance journalist and political and communications associate at Agenda, working on project communications, strategy and ideas.

He is also currently a freelance journalist – writing recently for publications including Politico and Byline Times – and remains actively involved in politics and trade unions, in the UK and EU.

Shamik was the political and communications officer for the European Parliamentary Labour Party, the secretariat of the group of Labour MEPs in Brussels, at the time of Brexit – from before the referendum, through the negotiations to the eventual withdrawal. Following that, he was the communications and public affairs manager of the European Movement, the biggest and most influential pro-European campaigning and lobby group.

Prior to moving to Belgium, Shamik studied for the NCTJ, the premier journalism training course, and then helped found the leading political news and analysis blog, Left Foot Forward, becoming assistant editor and then editor.

Shamik loves sport, going out, travel, skiing and food. His parents are a strong source of inspiration, the journeys they have taken and the sacrifices they made to provide opportunities for their family.
