Are you a well-organised and confident communicator who knows what makes a good story for the media and can write engaging copy that inspires action? We are looking for a freelance Communications and PR Associate to help with the development and execution of media and campaigning strategies and plans. Ideally this person will be based in or around the Brussels region.
Agenda is an international strategic communications agency that works with charities, membership organisations, trade unions and social enterprises. We have experienced a period of growth recently: turnover is increasing year-on-year and the scope and volume of projects we undertake is also growing.
Our European director is looking for a part-time freelance Communications and PR Associate who can work alongside her on client projects.
The role will include:
Research to support campaign planning
Participating in brainstorming and planning sessions
Managing media lists and calendars
Drafting and distributing content such as blogs, social content, newsletters and press releases
Pitching stories to journalists and fulfilling media requests
Tracking media coverage and marketing metrics
Requirements and skills:
Essential:
Excellent communication and writing skills
Knowledge of issues such as human rights, international development, poverty and financial inclusion and other social issues
Experience of working with charities, trade unions, social movements and other social impact organisations
Proven experience in PR and media relations, including a track record in placing stories
Understanding of communications and marketing tools and techniques
Well-organised and able to manage competing and changing priorities and deadlines
Attention to detail
Desirable:
Video editing skills
An understanding of EU institutions and ways of working
Based in or near Brussels, Belgium
French and/or Dutch language skills
The role is part-time and on a freelance basis. We can pay 35€ an hour (or international currency equivalent) for the equivalent of 30 hours a month. Your schedule can be flexible with agreement from the director. There is potential for hours to increase as the business grows.
