Changing hearts and minds: Countering harmful narratives 2026

Want to secure your place at our flagship event, Changing hearts and minds: Countering harmful narratives on Wednesday 17 June 2026? Then you can get your ticket for our 2026 event now!

Changing hearts and minds: Countering harmful narratives is booked for Wednesday 17 June 2026.

This year, we’ll understand the science of how people process information, the way arguments and ideas are presented to encourage ‘group think’, and how to counter harmful narratives through your communications and build long-term support for your causes.

We will hear from experts in neuroscience, framing and communications practice in the morning session before we ask participants to blend the session’s insights, learnings and their own knowledge to answer some gnarly challenges in the afternoon session.

Last year, we explored how communications can overcome far-right narratives. Georgina Laming, from Hope not Hate, helped us understand voter motivations; Steve Ballinger, from British Future, shared a case study on creating positive emotional appeal; and Faryal Iqbal, from Own Drum, gave examples of meeting hostility with humanity.

Our breakout topics covered:

  • Turning down the temperature on polarised views

  • Tackling child poverty

  • Challenging migration narratives

  • Protecting the right to protest

  • Redefining masculinity

  • Making the case for international aid

We're delighted to invite you to our 2026 event!
