Monthly round up

Here's how the year started at Agenda.

Overcoming political differences, creating member-centric strategies, putting comms insights into practice - January got off to a flying start.

Stronger together

Trump’s inauguration speech saw the rapid rollback of policies on climate, immigration, EDI issues among many more. Becky’s blog outlines how we’re focusing on bringing people together rather than pushing polarised views.

For more on Trump’s inauguration, what it might mean for the world and how to respond, you can listen to a discussion between Becky and political advisor Mark Watts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwEqqG9QiV4

In these increasingly divided times, we’re all about sharing and learning. That’s why this month we collated our ‘how to’ guides into a free, one-stop-resource on everything comms.

Branding

We’ve developed the positioning element of NASUWT’s refreshed brand – complete with new narrative and core messaging. We’re now supporting elected members and staff to put the theory into practice.

PR

Will AI help deliver better healthcare? The government believes as much, so we’ve helped the Society of Radiographers to get the message out that AI and new tech still needs more radiographers to deliver patient care. We also helped the union secure media coverage about the delays to pay increases for radiographers in Northern Ireland.

Membership comms

What is a member journey? Matt and Vic have been working with staff and reps from ASLEF to map out the various ways the union can ask members to join, stay and get active. This involved thinking about low stakes/low commitment to high stakes/high commitment opportunities.

How do you deliver excellent member comms? We’re reviewing BALPA’s existing ways of working to strengthen the union’s culture, approach and processes around comms to boost recruitment and retention.

LinkedIn

Sarah unpacked LinkedIn data and had conversations with Gesher School about what content’s working for them. She’s now using this insight to better promote the 'Gesher way' of working with children who think and learn differently.

Editorial

Becky enjoyed working with Prospect Magazine on its latest supplement exploring how to equip the UK with the skills needed to power economic growth.

Strategy

We’ve also been busy strategising with clients on how to increase influence within Brussels, with a particular focus on the transition to net zero, workers’ rights and sustainable and competitive trade. With a new EU parliament and commission to consider, it’s been an interesting and productive process.
