September is conference season, when the Agenda team gets involved with panels and fringes which shape the political debate, and hangs out with the unions, charities and social impact organisations that we support with strategic communications and digital transformation.
📌 Our tour of conference venues kicked off with Trades Union Congress (The TUC) and a trip to Brighton for Matt Ball and Victoria Barlow where they caught up with clients and friends from across the union movement.
📌 Brain health, adult education, affordable housing, free home care, menstrual health, life sciences, investing in devolution, and growing UK business were Vic’s topics as she chaired New Statesman events at The Labour Party conference in Liverpool.
📌 During her New Statesman events, Becky oversaw discussions on youth employability, the government's pride in place strategy, women leaders in the energy sector, the digital platform economy, financial empowerment, and the role of reading in creating thriving individuals.
📌 It’s not all work, work, work at conference. When they're not chairing, Becky and Vic are listening, learning and connecting. They caught up with Labour NEC members Cat Arnold and Emily Pomroy-Smith, and joined events by Labour Women's Network, Education Policy Institute, Labour Movement for Europe, TikTok, Fabian Society, and Medical Aid for Palestinians – and heard from the Prime Minister himself
📌 Labour’s 10 Year Health Plan featured widely on the fringe, where we heard about challenges and solutions to rising healthcare demand. Matt went to Society and College of Radiographers events, including those held by Association of Anaesthetists, Nuffield Trust, Medefer, The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, & Institute of Biomedical Science.
📌 September saw a milestone in our website and CRM work with NIPSA. We ran member and rep surveys and stakeholder workshops and interviews on what works well and what could be better on existing platforms, sharing the results with the senior team. The next phrase explores what NIPSA's future solutions should deliver, ready to go out to tender at the end of the year
📌 PR guru Catherine Cooper placed another story with BBC News for Tree of Hope charity, about fundraising for five-year-old Sid with spinal muscular atrophy.
📌 Do you know how to prepare for and respond to risk? Are you ready for a comms crisis? Becky Slack had an excellent morning with a brilliant group of charities discussing all this and more at Canopi Get in touch if we can help with your reputation management.
📌 Becky Slack caught up with our ace associate Becky Allin (BBC & Channel 4) to explore what’s possible when strategy meets creativity — from film and photography to bringing big ideas to life. Got a story to tell that needs creative muscle? Give us a shout.

August monthly round-up
It's back to school and we're gearing up for a busy season with TUC and Labour party conferences, but first let's look back at the great projects we've worked on over August. We secured national press coverage for a deeply concerning survey on racism from The Society of Radiographers, saw the Hallmark Foundation brand refresh in real life, and held workshops with BALPA's company reps.
